Councillors Makin and Bradford with Chris Timms and Sarah Laman of Fleet Arts
Burglar Alarm costs funded by Derbyshire County Council
Fleet Arts is delighted to have been presented with a cheque for £460 from Derbyshire County Council’s Members Community Leadership Scheme, given jointly by Councillor Stuart Bradford and Councillor Peter Makin. The money has been used towards the maintenance of the Fleet Arts base, on the Fleet in Belper. As well as providing a home for Fleet Arts itself local groups and individuals also use the space to run their own activities.
Chris Timms, Chair of Fleet Arts said:
“We approached Cllrs. Bradford and Makin, as our local County Councillors to ask for support after our burglar alarm went wrong. We were really pleased when they said they could fund replacing the vital parts! Our building is used by a number of local groups and individuals – for instance many musicians of all ages use our music rehearsal rooms and two local dance groups use the space regularly. As an old building – but one that has been visited and loved by many over the years - there are always unexpected costs, so the £460 grant has helped us to keep the place affordable and to continue to offer it to more local groups and individuals.”
Cllrs. Bradford and Meakin presented the cheque to the Chair and staff at Fleet Arts on Monday 28th November.
